SPF, which means Sender Policy Framework, is an email protection system, that is designed to validate whether an e-mail message was sent by a licensed server. Using SPF protection for a given domain name will stop the forging of email addresses made with the domain. In layman's terms: enabling this function for a domain makes a particular record in the Domain Name System (DNS) that contains the IP of the servers that are permitted to send email messages from mail boxes under the domain. Once this record propagates worldwide, it exists on all the DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic. Whenever an email message is sent, the initial DNS server it goes through verifies whether it originates from an approved server. When it does, it is sent to the destination address, however if it doesn't originate from a server part of the SPF record for the domain, it is discarded. In this way nobody will be able to mask an e-mail address then make it appear as if you're sending spam messages. This method is also called email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Shared Hosting

SPF protection can be enabled for each domain name hosted in a shared hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with no more than a couple of clicks. The feature is available in the Emails section of our revolutionary Hepsia Control Panel and all it takes to use it is to pick one of your domains from the drop-down menu and type in the hostnames and the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the mail servers which will be authorized to send messages from your email addresses. As an added option you may also restrict the email messages to be sent from your domain name only when it includes our MX records, in other words when our servers handle the emails for it, not some third-party provider. This option offers you the highest degree of safety, but it's not applicable in case only your web site is on our servers while your emails for the domain name are taken care of in another place. In either case, our SPF protection service will keep your email addresses safe from being used for spam or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

When you have a semi-dedicated server account from our company, you can secure your emails by enabling the SPF security service for every domain name in the account with just a couple of clicks. This can be done through the Emails section of our Hepsia Control Panel that is included with the semi-dedicated accounts and even in case you have no previous experience with these kinds of issues, you will not have any difficulties to activate the protection. Everything that you'll have to do will be to choose a domain from a drop-down menu then type the mail server hostname and IPv4 or IPv6 address. The moment the updated record propagates, messages from your email addresses will be mailed around the world only if they were sent from that particular server. In case your emails are managed by us and not by a third-party provider, you will also be able to use an option for email messages to be mailed only if the domain name has our MX records and the aforementioned would be the safest option.
